Mont Blanc, the normal Italian route, via the Dome glacier and the Bionnassay ridge.
Pope Achille Ratti with the guide of Courmayeur Alexis Proment, on 1 August 1890, went down this itinerary for the first time. Among the normal routes of Mont Blanc it is certainly the most suggestive, the environment is grandiose, very wild and the route is not very popular. The ridges that from the Piton des Italien lead to the Dome, although not difficult, guarantee an exceptional panorama. It is recommended for sufficiently trained mountaineers (1800 meters of elevation gain!) And who do not like the crowding of the French routes.
